Didn’t really know what to do this morning, so we took some time to plan ahead…
Result: Got reservations for Marti Gras, in New Orleans, at the “Mardi Gras RV Park” for Feb 14th through the 19th.
With “something” actually accomplished for a change, we headed out just to see what we could…
Luanne had read about a place named NOANK, only a few miles South of Mystic…
To get there, we headed South on a narrow, serpentine, back road that was both picturesque and a bit precarious: Some places were only a car-width wide; but then again, there was hardly any traffic, and the nature of the road only let you travel at a snail’s pace, so…
Bottom line: Lu didn’t have to use her “break pedal” on the copilot side at all… That alone made my day!
Anyway, we meandered down the coast…
Stopped here and there…
Took pictures:

Walked the beach and the park in Groton…
In other words, we had a super day doing what we love to do:
Discovering America.
The weather was almost perfect today… A bit windy at times, but not a cloud in the sky most of the day… What more could you ask for?
Having had enough of the western side of Mystic, we drove over to Stonington…
Parked; then walked almost the entire length of Water Street…
Spotted “Skipper’s Dock Restaurant,” located on a dock, and had the most delicious fish and chips (Haddock… Do we have that in Washington?)…
After all the walking and eating, we headed home to rest our weary bones for a bit, then headed out again…
First stop, “Olde Mistic Village.” Didn’t realize how big this place was… Must’ve spent a couple of hours roaming in and out of a myriad of shops…
Couldn’t believe there was a Scandinavian shop in the middle of all this…
Of course, we had to spend some quality time there - and a few bucks on some very “needed” stuff.
Drove down (and over the old draw bridge) to Water Street, where we (for the second day in a row) found “Captain Daniel Packer’s Tavern” (not upstairs, but in the “basement“), where we absorbed a couple of drinks and a bowl of clam chowder, and where we met some new “friends,” John and Jo-Ann, who engaged us in enjoyable conversation… Thanks, guys for lending us an ear…
That’s about it for tonight… Luanne’s long gone… Probably snoring already, and as soon as I can get all these pictures uploaded, I’m gonna join her in blissful sleep.
Night all!
