WITCH HOLE POND and WINTER HARBOR, ME (SEP. 14, 2009)

WITCH HOLE POND and WINTER HARBOR, ME (SEP. 14, 2009)
Didn’t have anything special planned for today, so we took our sweet time rolling out of the sack and getting ourselves presentable… As we peeked out, we could see the sun shining from another clear, blue sky, and, when we ventured outside, we found the “elements” quite to our liking… No nip in the air, like yesterday morning… Looked like a perfect day to take another hike in Acadia National Park.
I have to insert here that (after many calculations, and supreme scrutiny) our trek around Eagle Lake (the other day) was SIX miles, not five, as previously reported… No wonder I was ready for crutches after that one… My poor “sticks” (as Lu so tactlessly describes my pedals) were not used to such brutality, and it took a whole day and a night to forget about the pain, and to get me straightened out to my usual height…
No matter… My brain had obviously forgotten about all that this morning, so off we went…
It turned out to be a wonderful hike, as you can see on my pictures… And the pictures tell the whole story, so I will not embellish on that, except to say that the two hours it took us around Witch Hole Pond was easy to maneuver, and even easier to behold… Talk about eye candy!
To prove to you that the hike this morning did me no wrong, we took off (after lunch at home) to explore the Gouldsboro Peninsula and Winter Harbor(on the other side of Frenchman Bay).
I’m afraid I’m beginning to sound like a recording, but this foreigner hasn’t learned enough English words to adequately describe the scenery we see around us… Not just here, but everywhere we’ve been…
I do apologize for that, and hope my pictures will make up for my ignorance of the language.
Hey, since I am apologetic to no end right now, I have to take the opportunity to apologize to my bride for the oversight of not mentioning the delicious breakfast she fixed yesterday morning…
It was Bloody Great, Mate, and I will forever be in your debt for your gracious way of telling me that there will never be another breakfast until I eat humble pie… You’re the greatest cook that ever lived, and I stand by that until you absolve my sin… Thank you! Let’s eat!
So… I got sidetracked…
What I was trying to say was that, if you look at the pictures, and take my commentary with a grain of salt, then you should have a pretty good idea of what’s going on in our lives on a daily basis, and all without those fancy words I’m looking to find…
With that, I’m done for today… Have a great rest of the week, and keep in touch.
