Good evening, friends......
Don't know about you, but we had a great day!
Guess you could say it started with a quiet night.... That's always good, huh?
Anyway, we woke up to a million degrees, and decided that the air condition in the truck would be the way to go...
Headed over to Walmart ( about 6 or 7 miles East of here), to pick up my nedicine, and, if it hadn't been for the two hour time zone difference between here and Bellingham, we could've picked it up right away...
While waiting, we scooted down to BOYS' TOWN, where we spent about an hour going through the facilities.... Very impressive! A lot of land, and a lot of buildings, and a lot of stuff to digest...
Here I have to appologize to everyone who's been reading my Blog... I goofed! It was NOT John Wayne who starred in the movie, but Spencer Tracey, and Mickey Rooney.... SORRY!
Back to get my meds, and hightail it back to Woods Landing, where we dove right into the pool..... Ahhh..... So nice to be able to cool off!
Spent a good hour and a half in and out of the water, and probably got a bit too much sun, but what the hey....
Someone at the pool told us about a great place for steaks (The Sportsman's River Lodge, just across the river - The Platte, that is), so we headed there right after our nap... And, boy! we hit the jackpot! Had the most tender and delicious prime rib we've had in years! And good company, as well.... The waitress/bar tender found out we were out-of-towners, which, evidently, was a novelty, because they bought us drinks while pumping us for all the information about us and our trip they could muster... Lots of fun! Got out of there still coherent and able to drive the couple of miles back to our campground... It was an experience we'll remember for a long time....
We took a drive around the neighborhood after dinner, just to get a few more shots of barns, so that's it for tonight... Look at the pictures:
