FREDRICKSBURG to VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (OCT. 15, 2009)

So, the rain caught up with us…
Got a bit wet this morning, as I unhooked the water, sewer, and electrical chords, but it wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been…
It poured down earlier, when we were still in bed, and I was wondering if I was going to get soaked, but, like I said, it eased up, and was only a drizzle when I had to get going.
Lucky me, huh?
Before I forget, I must’ve made a mistake in yesterday’s Blog, because I’ve had inquiries about the link to my photos… If you didn’t get a chance to see the pix, you might want to try again… I think I fixed it… If not, let me know.
We only had about 170 miles to drive today, so we took our time this morning… Didn’t get rolling until about 9am, and, because of the rain, we drove very conservatively the whole way… Even stopped at a Visitor’s Center, where Luanne fixed us an eggs and ham breakfast… Yummy!
I programmed “Jack” last night (made sure he corresponded with Google Earth), and, sure enough, he obliged us with a “direct hit” today…
Those GPSes are wonderful when they don’t go off on their own…
As we entered Indian Cove Resort, at Virginia Beach, the rain eased off, and I was lucky enough to get the trailer hooked up without getting too wet…
We decided to catch up on some very late nights, and took a nap, after which we headed over to Walmart (only three miles away) to stock upon fruit and food products…
That’s about it for today… Kind of blah, huh? Sorry…
Blame it on the weather gods…
Talking about the weather… We’re hoping it’ll ease up so we can see Williamsburg and Jamestown one of these days…
And we’d love to get out to the ocean…
Maybe hang out on the beach for a while, but the weather forecast doesn’t look promising…
Just have to take it as it comes, I guess…
We do have three days, four nights here, so maybe we’ll get lucky?
Have to mention that satellite TV, and the cell phone and internet service is great here… Finally!
After waiting for hours, back there at the Wilderness campground, to connect (one way or the other), it’s nice to be able to turn things on and have immediate response… Thought you’d like to know…
Bye for now… Take care and keep in touch.

  1. Hi guys.....the blogs are great ..keep up the good work!!....glad to hear you made it to Virginia Beach, we wish the weather was better for you....we've been there many times and its beautiful...hope the weather breaks so you can walk the boardwalk, what a great walk on the boardwalk with all the huge motels on one side and the ocean on the other...its beautiful..hell I would even walk it in the rain!!...we stay at a motel there along the boardwalk and every morning get up early and walk.....theres also some nice seafood restaurants in the area....one of them we liked cuz it had an all you can eat seafood buffet, man the buffet tables stretched across the entire restaurant.. and lots of choices for seafood on it, pick and choose what you want, as many times as you want...I am pretty sure it was called Captain Georges Restaurant, make sure its the one with the huge buffet if you go tho, cuz I think there are 2 of them....theres also a pretty neat Marine Science Museum in Virginia Beach, very interesting, good for a rainy day...
..Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown were pretty neat too and I think about about 2 hrs from Virginia Beach....

  2. Hey, Billy and Donna...
    Thanks for the kind words...
Always nice to hear you're doing OK...
So far the weather sucks, but we drove down to Virginia Beach this morning, anyway, and walked some of the great concrete boardwalk in the drizzle... Must be beautiful here when the sun shines...
We were surprised by the comercial developments... I believe every hotel/motel chain in the world is here...
We got tickets to Colonial Williamsburg tomorrow... Probably take in Jamestown and Yorktown then, as well... If the rain lets up a little...
Thanks again for following our journey across this great land.
    Kjell and Luanne
