HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEETHEART!
Have you ever heard crickets, frogs, owls, and all kinds of nocturnal creature‘s sounds all night long?
OK… OK…. Showoff….
But have you heard them all at once, along with Luanne’s snores?
(if the answer is yes, you and I will have to have a serious talk!)
Well… I haven‘t either…. Until last night.
A disgusting composition of Mother Nature’s symphony beat my brain to a pulp, until, finally, at 2:30am, I got up and shut all hatches and windows…
Since it was so early on Luanne’s birthday, I kept her out of harm’s way (literally), and didn’t even poke her in the ribs to quiet her down… I’d say that was pretty generous of me, since she definitely carried the base beat in this opus…
Of course, that didn’t carry too well this morning, when all I had thought about during the night was forgotten, and I didn’t even wish her a Happy Birthday until I saw a greeting card from her sis, Linda (better known as Gede)..
Too late, guy! Plague and sorrow be upon you!
But, alas, she took it like a trooper… She forgave my sin, and we lived happily for another day…
To make up for my carelessness, I took her into town, Cambridge, for a look-see at the different establishments the town had to offer, and, wouldn’t you know it, we found another Walmart… Oh, yeah… They’re everywhere!
We trotted through town, moved with grace through this and that… Even went up to the third floor of the Court House to look at the Court Room they refurbished with authentic furniture from about 150 years ago…

And we stopped and talked to vendors at the Farmer’s Market (right on the front steps of the Court House)… Of course, we had a mocha and a vanilla late to brighten our morning…
Oops… Forgot to tell you that it poured down last night, and we had thunder and lightning this morning before we took off, but that all quit by the time we left home… Fortunately, or unfortunately (we will never know), it was the deciding factor in whether we were going to head up to “Amish-land” or into town… We needed fuel for the truck, and it looked like there wasn’t much of that in horse-and-buggy country, so…
Anyway, we decided to forgo lunch and come back in for dinner…
Which we did, after catching up on some shut-eye when we got home.
Went on the internet to find a restaurant contender, and didn’t find anything worth while, but then my better half remembered she’d seen a sign for “The Point Restaurant” up on a hill somewhere, and that’s where we celebrated her birthday…
Had a fantastic dinner and enjoyed ourselves for a couple of hours, then went home, over those 16 miles of winding, up-and-down roads, to our little hacienda on wheels…
All in all… A pretty darn good day! At least, that was what Luanne classified it as, and that’s good enough for me.
Tomorrow… Off to a one-night stand in Champion, Pennsylvania… More then……
